Beauty Resolution: Be more adventurous with your makeup
Why it’s the perfect pledge: We’d put money on the fact that once upon a time, back when you first discovered the wonderful world of makeup, there was nothing you loved more than experimenting with the latest looks and hunting down the perfect products for you. Fast forward a few years and time constraints and bad beauty habits may well have left you stuck in a beauty rut – even more of an excuse to make 2009 the era to start smartening up your pruning process – you won’t believe the difference it makes.
Says who: Head Makeup artist at B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, Charlotte Matheson believes January is the perfect time for a change. ‘Wearing new makeup can make you feel like a new woman. This year the look is all about subtle, matte bronzing and pretty red lips. Eyeshadow shades in soft pastel tones should be worn alone and because they suit all skin tones and eye colours, it’s a wearable look and a great way to ease you gently into a new trend.’
Martina Luisetti, Senior Artist at MAC is in agreement, admitting this is the ideal time of year to redefine your make-up. ‘It is imperative to feel confident in your beauty in order to look better. Gorgeous make-up that breaks the rules of your everyday regime will give a touch of intrigue and surprise everyone you meet. Light-reflecting eyeshadows in tones of dark green or light gold give a guaranteed wow factor and swap your lipstick for a matching lipglass that adds only a stain of colour. Even small, subtle changes will have a big impact.’
