RICHARD WARD IN-BLOOM BLOW-DRY, LONDON

Tested by Louise Emma Clarke

What it promises: Whether you are heading to a summer wedding, a day at the races, or a garden party with friends, London salon Richard Ward should be your first port of call this summer. The In-Bloom Blow Dry incorporates a relaxing personalised Kerastase treatment, followed by an expert blow-dry with a senior stylist, and then finished with a flattering flower accessory to create the ultimate summer blow-dry experience.

What happens: Richard Ward’s Hair and Metrospa is based in Duke of York Square, which is just off London’s fashionable Kings Road. The interior is bright and stylish, with clients waiting for appointments in what looks like a slick city bar. I ordered a glass of chilled water from the bar and flicked through the latest issue of Vogue while I waited for my Stylist. She arrived after a few minutes and lead me over to the basins to enjoy a thorough shampoo, condition, intensive treatment, and head massage with luxurious Kerastase products. With a towel around my head, I was led back to the main salon and discussed with the stylist what look I was hoping for. I was heading to a wedding that afternoon, so asked for gentle waves, with lift in the crown. I was handed a selection of hair accessories to pick from – and chose a large purple flower grip, which matched the dress I was wearing later in the day. The blow-dry was impressively quick and exactly what I had envisaged, with the flower tucked in front of the grips on the left of my head.

The Results: To say I was pleased with the result is an understatement. I could never have achieved the same result at home and lost count of the compliments I received later that day. The style held perfectly, with the waves still visible the following morning. The whole experience was enjoyable and very pampering. This blow-dry is the perfect start to a summer event and I have been recommending it to everybody.

Price: £60, plus the cost of your chosen hair accessory.
